Cranial Fascial Release﷯ Cranial Facial Release or CFR is an advanced endo-nasal cranial technique, that Dr. Daniel Rudé, received certification in, from the originator Dr. Adam J. Del Torto, DC. CFR is used to help expand the nasopharynx, by expanding the tube going between the nose and the throat. This passage way is not to be confused with the sinus cavity, which is above the nasopharynx, and manipulation of the sinus cavity, is done in a surgical setting, under the auspices of a ENT physician. Cranial Fascial Release,(CFR), is a balloon assisted manipulation of the nasopharynx area, which includes primarily the maxillary and ethmoid sinus joints and can be very helpful in helping to improve air intake, as well as draining congestive blockages, and in some cases has been reported to help relief symptomatology from various neurological and structural disorders. CFR as created and taught by Dr. Del Torto, is a specialized technique, that was derived from an earlier form of cranial treatment called Bilateral Nasal Specific (BNS) pioneered by Chiropractor Richard Stober in the 1970's and 80's. CFR was and is an offshoot of BNS techniques, but is much more specific and less invasive. CFR technique is performed by inserting tiny balloons in the nose (specifically the nasopharynx) then quickly inflated to mobilize the cranial bones. It feels very similar to the sensation experienced when one jumps into a swimming pool and gets water up their nose. The whole procedure takes about 2 to 3 seconds, and it consists usually of a set of 4 consecutive treatments over a 7-10 day period. Longer protocols can be suggested for more difficult cases or when patient’s schedules mandate. Patients who seek CFR treatment are usually people who have been through the gamut and are looking for an alternative non-drug/non-surgical approach to wellness! Most of these people have suffered a great deal, and they are tired of being sick and drug-dependent. Conditions That Respond Favorably to CFR Treatment To understand how CFR works, it is important to know that the skull is NOT one solid bone. It is made up of 22 individual bones that join together and actually move every time you breathe. This movement of the It is more of a flexion/extension type of movement, but each bone has its own specific direction of motion. This "cranial respiratory flexion/extension" is imperative to normal body function and to your overall health and well-being. In the hierarchy of the human body, brain function takes top priority. This is because all other body functions depend on a properly functioning nervous system for control, and subluxation or improper function of this flexion /extension movement can cause aberrant neural signals to the brain and aberrant messages back, causing a musculo/skeletal subluxation complex as can be found in other subluxated structures in the body. Sometimes these subluxated cranial bones and subsequently impaired movements that might be present before CFR treatment, can impair and cause abnormal pressure on the brain. This may significantly impede the flow of cerebral spinal fluid throughout the brain and spinal cord, which may alter the function of the nervous system and directly affect the normal body’s function. Chiropractic healing philosophy, states that disease processes start out as functional disorders or subluxated (reduced or improper joint movements) long-term dysfunction eventually gives rise to disease. Chiropractic philosophies contention is that the majority of functional disorders in the body stemming from subluxated joint structures, can over the long period, reduce neurological signals from the brain to the body, reducing nutrient or hormonal flow to body cells. The sphenoid bone is the primary structural component of this neuro-endocrine system. The Pituitary gland which is the "master gland", sits right on top of the sphenoid bone in a little saddle called the "sella tursica". Proper respiratory motion of the sphenoid bone is necessary for normal pituitary - hypothalamus function, as well as being responsible for the cranial meningeal system to pump cerebral spinal fluid throughout the brain and spinal cord. An aberration of this system, may have adverse somatic (musculo-skeletal) and visceral (organs) possibly affecting the entire body. As we find in the rapid renewal of body cells, it is greatly desired to have proper nutrient and hormonal flow to all body structures. Dr. Del Torro, teaches that anatomy shows us that 80% of a human’s neural function is above the neck, so it would make sense to make sure your nasopharynx is flexing and extending properly and your soft and hard plate are in the best alignment possible. Dr. Daniel Rudé D.C., is an international experienced chiropractor and has adjusted patients in the US and abroad. He is currently the President of the Los Angeles Metropolitan District of the California Chiropractic Association and has experience in competitive swimming at the collegiate level, as well as Triathlons, where optimal breathing function is imperative. Let him check your nasopharynx function and see if your life might be optimized by chiropractic care, not just to spinal joints but also to cranial and facial joint structures as well. Be subluxation free or as close to it, is an amazing feeling. Clients when they come off the adjusting table, after a CFR treatment, have said that they have never felt so focused and alert and felt such ability to more easily take in air from their nose. Trauma causing subluxation to facial bones can be caused by, traumatic extraction during delivery; innocent bumps on the head or face, conventional orthodontic procedures (i.e. braces), drug use, whiplash injuries, severe head trauma, etc. Cranial aberrations can be easily detected through CFR testing procedures, but there are cursory exams you can do at home - using a mirror, see if you can detect any facial asymmetries - such as one ear lobe being lower than the other, or one eye higher or wider than the other. Look for nostril asymmetries and nose deviations, or notice if your jaw is centered properly. Also see if it opens straight, or does it deviate to one side or the other when you open your mouth. All of these are indications of cranial problems, which could eventually give rise to functional disorders and degenerative changes in your body, may be present. Dr. Daniel Rudé combines his CFR procedures with Biophysics, mirror image adjusting and posture correction as taught by Don Harrison, D.C. and SOT protocols and conventional cranial techniques as taught by Dr. Major Dejarnette, Dr. Marc Pick, DC, and Dr. John Upledger, D.O., to achieve dramatic healing results with his clients. A series of 4 CFR treatments are quite often combined with chiropractor care treatment plans as well as postural corrective exercises and posture correction traction wedges and orthopedic supportive sleep and airway supportive pillows, to help improve a clients improved breathing and healing during sleep time. The cost of the CFR treatment is $525 for a series of four treatments, or $170 for one treatment, after the initial exam (please see website exam coupon section) Dr. Daniel is excited to help you begin CFR and potentially life transformative chiropractic care and postural improving exercises and orthopedic supportive pillows and posture corrective tools, to help your body on a natural healing course. "It is important to note that CFR is not directed at the treatment of any one specific disease or disorder. It's primary objective is to mobilize the cranial bones, unlock cranial fixations, open the breathing passageways, facilitate cerebral spinal fluid flow, increase vascular flow to and venous drainage from the cranium, and optimizes brain function. This often times improves symptoms related to various neurological disorders."
